EU Chamber of Commerce in Canada West

Building upon an atmosphere of mutual recognition and friendly relations, CanCham Belux signed in February 2016 a MOU with the EU Chamber of Commerce in Canada West.

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Canada – West (“EU Chamber”) is not-for-profit, membership-based organization with a mandate of facilitating trade and investment between European Union and Canada with a special focus on Western Canada. EU Chamber was founded in Vancouver and incorporated as a not-for-profit association under the BC Society Act in 2013.

EU Chamber is one of the most active and respected bilateral trade organizations in Western Canada. EU Chamber’s mandate is to promote and assist bilateral trade between European Union and Canada by acting as a service-centre for providing information, contacts, organizing missions to fairs and conventions and generally acting as a catalyst between economic operators here and in European Union. EU Chamber regularly hosts incoming delegations from both business and government sectors and organizes regular networking events for its members. The EU Chamber organizes activities to increase awareness of the European Union in Canada and to stimulate linkages between Canada and Europe. Most notably, the EU Chamber promotes the Comprehensive Economic & Trade Agreement (“CETA”) signed between Canada and the European Union raising awareness of the enhanced trade and investment opportunities CETA will create for Canadian and European business on both sides of the Atlantic.

EU Chamber initiatives include:

  • facilitating access of EU companies to Canadian markets and Canadian companies to the EU market
  • promoting the establishment of long term industrial and/or commercial cooperation agreements between EU and Canadian companies
  • attraction of Canadian investments to the European Union through marketing projects and dissemination of Canadian investment opportunities among EU companies
  • identification of professional & specialized know-how to assist Canadian and EU businesses pursue business and investment opportunities in Canada and the EU
  • lobbying and communications activities towards local business and institutional authorities
  • promotion of incoming and outgoing tourism
  • creating cultural linkages complementary to business activities and exchanges
